Pace of Play Guidelines
Rule 6-7 states, in part: “A player shall play without undue delay and in accordance with any pace of play guidelines which may be laid down by the committee.” The pace of play guidelines listed below will be used for all club events and championships. All other play will be based on a four-hour round. The pace of play during a normal round of golf will be monitored by the golf shop staff. Any group playing the front nine in more than two hours will be notified.
Definition of “Out of Position”
The first group to start will be considered out of position if, at any time during the round, it exceeds the time allotted to play as detailed on the pace of play schedule for that particular event.
Subsequent groups will be considered out of position if, at any time during the round, they (a) exceed the time allotted to play, or (b) reach a point on the golf course where there is an open par 3 or par 4 hole, or when the preceding group is on the putting green of a par 5 hole when the group in question is on the teeing ground.
Procedure
When a group is out of position, the players will be informed by a member of the committee upon leaving the next immediate teeing ground. After they have been informed, they must improve their position in relation to time allotted on each hole, or until they are in position. If at any time, upon completion of a hole they have failed to improve their position in relation to time allotted, they will be subject to time restrictions.
If a group has failed to improve its position, a member of the committee will inform the group upon leaving the next immediate teeing ground that they will be subject to timing restrictions.
Penalties
When a group is subject to timing restrictions, a player shall not exceed the allotted time for a shot. Any player exceeding the time allotted will be subject to the following penalties: First violation - warning; second violation - one-stroke penalty; third violation - two-stroke penalty; fourth violation - disqualification. |
